Tour description

We cover the history of the Old Town and Jewish Quarter start to finish: a complete tour with a specific emphasis on the Medieval Golden Age of the city. Including the more obvious highlights of things like the Astronomical Clock, but also making sure we don't miss the blood and guts, the ghosts, the tyrants - the gory details that have given birth to the Mother of Cities.

We start on the Old Town Square, and then move through the ages to take in the architecture, the various changes that have altered the appearance of the city, and what lies behind. From there, we progress through the Jewish Quarter, full of legends that blend into historical fact.

Because - what is history? A collection of stories re-told for generations - some of which have become myth, some of which have become established fact. But the key is to unravel the tapestry. The truth is not which story you believe. It's how the narrative is created, and what it means today.

Nathan guiding a group near Charles Bridge

Nathan is British, but fell in love with Prague many years ago, when Lucas and he studied Czech together at Charles University. Interested in language and literature, Nathan's tours have a heavier focus on Medieval politics, and the grim and the real from the various historical periods. Prepare for defenestrations and executions.

I love this job, because I get to meet people and hear different stories - and I get to speak about something I'm passionate about: Prague. And I get to work outside. Ideal.

Lucas is a Colombian-born architect educated in Paris who has lived in Prague for more than a decade. An avid traveler, he can give a clear-sighted view on how the city has changed, on top of the history, the myths, the legends. Witty and loquacious (he speaks French, English, Spanish and Czech), you get more than you expect with Lucas.

Pragolem was born from the idea of the Golem constantly wandering through the city, watching over it and acting as its guardian. After all, he was Prague’s original 16th-century superhero. I see my work in much the same way: as a storyteller walking the streets of Prague, bringing its history, characters and stories to life, while sharing my love and knowledge of this beautiful city. If that’s what I get to do for a living, I can hardly imagine a better job.
